Post-Launch DLC Roadmap for Borderlands 4 Through 2026

Borderlands 4 launched on September 12, 2025 for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series, with Nintendo Switch 2 arriving October 3. Beyond the main campaign comes a promising post-launch roadmap that mixes paid expansions and free content, aimed at keeping Vault Hunters busy throughout late 2025 and into 2026. Here’s what’s confirmed so far and what players can look forward to in the year ahead.

Paid DLCs: Story Packs & Bounty Packs

  • Story Packs are premium expansions that will add new narrative zones in Kairos, new main and side missions, new Vault Hunters and loads of gear and cosmetics. The first Story Pack is titled Mad Ellie and the Vault of the Damned, featuring cosmic-horror themes and scheduled for Q1 2026. A second Story Pack is confirmed for after that.
  • Bounty Packs are smaller paid DLCs bundled in the Deluxe and Super Deluxe editions. There are 4 Bounty Packs in total: each includes a new boss, narrative missions, a Vault Card with cosmetics & re-rollable gear, new legendary loot. The first Bounty Pack will arrive in Q4 2025, with Bounty Pack 2 expected in Q1 2026.

Free Content & Events for All Players

  • Players without the paid DLCs will still get plenty. In October 2025, Horrors of Kairos will launch a seasonal mini-event with new legendary weapons, weather changes, and special cosmetics.
  • Weekly missions and challenges will also arrive: Wildcard missions, the Big Encore Boss, and access to Maurice’s Black Market Machine are all part of the free content roadmap.
  • The first Invincible boss fight will take place in Q4 2025, a high-difficulty encounter designed for veteran players looking for top-tier loot. This will also see the return of Pearlescent Rarity gear, rarer than the Legendary gear introduced with Bounty Pack 2 in early 2026.
